A raffle at the Birmingham Press Club’s annual ball has raised £1,250 for the National Institute for Conductive Education, with Barclays Bank topping up the amount to £2,000.
Press Club chairman John Lamb said: “Through the generous support of our members and guests and Birmingham accountants PKF and Barclays, we are delighted that the proceeds are going to the benefit of such a worthy cause as NICE, the charity nominated by PKF.”


The Argus is issuing a rallying call to win support for local celebrity Zoe Ball in the television contest Strictly Come Dancing.
The paper said: “The image of Sussex has been given a huge boost in the past by Zoe and her husband DJ Norman Cook, so now it is time to do them a favour.”

Front pages from the Eastern Daily Press and the Fakenham and Wells Times are decorating a Christmas tree in aid of the EDP’s We Care appeal, for the elderly, sick disabled and infirm of Norfolk.
Reporter Richard Farr has made copies of the front pages from the past year which feature the top local and national news, and hung them on a tree for the Fakenham Church Christmas Tree Festival. More than 60 trees have been decorated by a range of charities and visitors donate cash to their favourite.


Newton and Golborne Guardian reporter Neil Docking went back to school to give a talk about his job to children at Lyme Primary School.
The topic that captured the imagination of his young audience the most was how they could get to meet celebrities!


Science Media Centre press officer Rebecca Morelle is the first science writer to benefit from the Ivan Noble Bursary position at BBC News, which will give her six months at the BBC News website to develop her skills.
The bursary was set up in memory of the science and technology reporter Ivan Noble, who wrote a regular online “tumour diary” about the illness which eventually claimed his life.
