A massive haul of bootleg DVDs and CDs were seized by trading standards officer and the police after an investigation into the trade by the Manchester Evening News.
The raids followed an investigation into a local market in Salford, where undercover reporters bought CDs and DVDs before they were released in shops or at the cinema.


Glasgow Evening Times chief reporter David Leask and health reporter, John McCann, received a cash bonus for their work on the paper’s successful campaign to save the Queen Mother’s maternity hospital from closure.

The tenth series of the Newham Recorder’s literary scheme for schoolchildren, Reading Together, has begun, with newspaper mascot Snoopy helping launch the project at the six schools taking part.
In the four years it has been running, pupils at 40 schools have been involved.
