New printing press for Trinity Mirror

A new printing press for Trinity Mirror’s Welsh papers will be operational in Cardiff by the end of the year.

The new press will be capable of running out 70,000 copies per hour, and will be housed in a new press hall in Pacific Park, Cardiff Bay.

Trinity Mirror, publishers of The Western Mail and the South Wales Echo, launched the £18m project on Friday.

Chief executive Philip Graf cut the first sod of earth at the site.

The Western Mail and Echo Ltd’s main premises will remain at Thomson House in Cardiff.
