New arrival for newspaper publisher

A new free weekly newspaper has hit the streets, launched by Archant Hertfordshire and North London.

Aimed at railway commuters, The News is a tabloid-size newspaper, utilising news stories and features from several of the group’s other local titles, including the Hampstead & Highgate Express, the Comet and the Welwyn & Hatfield Times.

Twenty thousand copies are being distributed every Friday via 22 railway stations between Biggleswade and Potters Bar and Luton and Hampstead, and at tube stations between Hampstead, Swiss Cottage and Highbury & Islington.

The new title follows the launch of the Hertford Times, Biggleswade Comet and Wood&Vale Express by Archant Hertfordshire and North London earlier this year.

It is being edited by Hampstead & Highgate Express editor Geoff Martin.

He said: “The News has quite simply been a great idea, brilliantly implemented.

“It makes use of the best stories and pictures from across London and Hertfordshire and delivers them in one colourful, easily digestible and attractively designed newspaper.”
