Mercury helps to stop animals going hungry

The Leicester Mercury has been made an official collection point for cat and dog food to make sure animals don’t go hungry this winter.

Colleagues Linda Cotterell and Deborah Hudson, who work in the Mercury’s finance department, have set up the collection point in the reception of the paper’s George Street offices.

Linda’s love of animal’s encouraged her to start the collection.

She said: “Deborah and I have four cats each, four of which came through the Leicester Mercury weekly Pet of the Week appeal.”

All the food donated will go Leicester’s Woodside Animal Centre, which usually sees its busiest time in the run up to Christmas.
