Long-server rewarded

One of the Retford Times’ longest serving employees is celebrating 30 years service at the newspaper.

Duncan Middleton, who works in production, was presented with a watch to commemorate his time with the company.

He started at the Times when he was 15, and it used hot metal techniques which were later replaced by computer technology.

Duncan and his colleagues all had to be completely re-trained with the new production systems, and the Times’ managing editor Nick Purkiss was quick to acknowledge this.

He said: “It is a tribute to Duncan that he has adapted to those changes and continues to be a valued member of our production team.”

Duncan said: “I have enjoyed all my years at the Retford Times and I would not have wanted to work anywhere else.”
