KM Group coup as Princess books boat show ticket

The Princess Royal is to visit this year’s KM Chatham Navy Days at the height of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in what is being seen as a coup for the organisers.

Princess Anne will attend the Kent Messenger Group-sponsored event on Monday, June 3.

She will be the only Royal visitor to Kent during the Queen’s nationwide celebrations between June 1 and 4.

Bill Fowler, KM Chatham Navy Days director, said: “It is wonderful news.

“Her attendance will really add to the festivities and celebrations. We are delighted and honoured that KM Chatham Navy Days has been chosen for the only Royal Visit to Kent and Medway over the Golden Jubilee weekend. Navy Days will provide a focus for tens of thousands of people to come together and celebrate the Jubilee.”

News of the visit came in an announcement from Buckingham Palace.

Support for KM Chatham Navy Days 2002 (June 2 to 4), has been promised by the Royal Navy and the Army.

And the Polish, Belgian and Danish navies have also confirmed that they will be sending vessels.

This will be the fourth KM Chatham Navy Days since the event was revived in 1999, and the fourth sponsored by the Kent Messenger Group.

Attractions will include heritage vessels, air displays, military bands and displays from other services including the RNLI, HM Coastguard, the police, fire brigade and HM Customs and Excise.
