Kate's career goes continental

Former East Anglian Daily Times journalist Kate McNally has been appointed managing editor of Archant’s France Magazine.

The former business correspondent of the EADT, also published by Archant, will co-ordinate the editorial strategy of the bi-monthly English-language magazine for Francophiles, which is published in Cheltenham.

It was decided to appoint a managing editor responsible for the magazine’s day-to-day activities as its editor, Philip Faiers, is now based in the south of France.

Kate, (pictured), said: “It’s not often you get offered your dream job while at the top of a mountain in Chamonix – the miracles of mobile telecommunication never cease.

“I spent two very enjoyable years working on the East Anglian Daily Times and it was a difficult decision to leave both the newspaper and the Suffolk area.

“But the managing editor position at France Magazine was an unmissable opportunity for me, bringing together my experience and qualifications over the past 20 years.

“I’ve also had a major soft spot for France ever since spending a year in Paris as a student living with a wonderful French family – a soft spot I can now indulge in the name of work.

France Magazine is already the UK’s leading title for Francophiles, so I have a great platform to work from.

“We’ve got some exciting ideas for the future development of the magazine and I’m looking forward to working with the rest of the team in what promises to be a dynamic period for everyone involved in the title.”

Publishing director Simon Haisman said: “Kate has a passion for France, is a French speaker and more importantly brings a wealth of experience which will allow us to take this title to the next stage in its evolution.”
