Journal launches 'seriously good news' push

A “new look” Newcastle Journal is being launched – under the banner of Seriously Good News.

The campaign is a bid to encourage readers to form a more personal and relevant relationship with the newspaper.

A mini-Journal has already been distributed to hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses in the North East previewing its new daily content.

Bus-side advertising is being set up around the region for April featuring some of the new columnists, while newsagents and news retailers will be involved in sales-boosting activity in their outlets including the display of new point of sale material.

From this week, The Journal has been relaunched as “bigger and better than before” with increased pagination and the start of some new columns and columnists.

Interior designers Justin and Colin from TV’s The Million Pound Property Experiment have been signed up to write a weekly column.

And there is more opinion and analysis, more sport and more ‘homemaker’, with the introduction of a midweek homemaker plus section.

Other new columns include: My Country, Retail Therapy, Our School, Voices of the North, Views of the North, Statue of the Week, Website of the Week, Here comes the Bride, Me and My Wardrobe and Under Fire – A new series written by traffic wardens, double glazing salesmen and other workers who tell what it’s like to suffer verbal abuse from the public.
