'Hit Squad' wardens targeted by Mail

Birmingham Evening Mail readers have voted overwhelmingly to boot out local traffic wardens.

Given the chance, 94 per cent of voters would gladly see the back of Control Plus, a traffic warden company under contract by the city council.

The poll follows a spate of incidents that has done little to improve the public image of wardens.

On Tuesday, the Mail revealed that four illegally-parked Control Plus employees had their tickets torn up by supervisors.

And residents on a Kings Heath road have complained about a “hit squad” of wardens making it impossible to park outside their own homes.

With local councillors joining the chorus of disapproval, you can expect Mail readers to eventually get their wish.
