Helensburgh Advertiser editor moves to scotsman.com

Helensburgh Advertiser editor Alan Greenwood has been appointed editor of scotsman.com.

The experienced journalist is a former news editor of Trinity Mirror’s Midlands website icBirmingham, and was subsequently promoted to multimedia editor of the Birmingham Post, where he was responsible for launching its website.

In his new role Alan will be responsible for developing the scotsman.com website and future strategies for digital services and increased convergence.

He and the Scotsman.com team will also work closely with the Edinburgh Evening News and Scotland on Sunday in supporting their own online activities.

Mike Gilson, editor of The Scotsman, said: “We are delighted to secure Alan’s services. He is an innovative thinker on digital media but just as importantly a good journalist too.

“We are proud of scotsman.com, which at 3.8m monthly unique users is by a country mile the pre-eminent news and information service in Scotland, and we now want to take it to the next level.

“Combining our online reach with that of our newspapers means there has not before been a time in this company’s history when it has attracted such a large audience.”
