Freelance phone deal agreed

The Association of Freelance Journalists has announced the signing of a deal with the Phone Co-op – the only telephone service provider operated as a members’ co-operative.

Association members can now benefit from advantages such as dedicated 0845 numbers and discounted Internet access.

AFJ president Martin Scholes said: “The levels of service the Phone Co-op provides is what made us decide to enter into this deal.

“They can provide low-cost telecommunications services for members of the Co-op.

“Anyone can join for a minimum investment of just £1, and this means that you are entitled to their special, cut-price telecommunications packages.

“They offer a number of deals that are unique. One of the options is that they issue every subscriber with an 0845 local rate call that you can issue to family, friends and associates, so that no matter where they are in the UK, they can call you for the price of a local call. Incidentally, unlike with other providers, the call is totally free, as the person receiving the call doesn’t pay for it, either.”

Details of how to sign up for the service are on the Association website at www.afj.home-page.org.
