Former East Anglian Daily Times music critic Gordon Hawkins has died at the age of 88.

Mr Hawkins had a distinguished naval career, rising to the rank of acting commander. After the navy, he was bursar of the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook. He later became conductor of a choral society and a music critic for the EADT.

He leaves a daughter and two grandsons.
