Express & Echo editor named

Marc Astley has won his first editorship and will take over at the Express & Echo in Exeter next month.

Currently deputy editor at the Nottingham Evening Post, Marc has been with Northcliffe for 16 years.

Before taking up his role in Nottingham, he was at the Hull Daily Mail for almost five years.

He joined as head of news before being promoted to content editor. He was assistant editor for two-and-a-half years.

He previously worked at the Express & Echo in the mid 1990s as deputy news editor and then news editor.

He said: “The years I spent at the Express & Echo were among the most enjoyable of my career.

“It’s an honour to be returning to take up the editor’s chair.”

Marc, (pictured), has also previously worked at the Nuneaton Evening Tribune and the Leicester Mercury.

He will take up his new role on October 3.

He succeeds Steve Hall, who is now editor of the Derby Evening Telegraph.
