A manufacturing company in Yorkshire has been inundated with job applications after the Evening Post stepped in to help its recruitment search.

Bosses at Otley paper-making company Garnett had been left scratching their heads after receiving very little response when it advertised for staff to fill its various vacancies.

However, since the Yorkshire Evening Post stepped in and ran a story highlighting the company’s problem, more than 50 people have sent in CVs or requested an application form.

Cliff Barry, executive vice-chairman of Garnett, said the response to the article had been fantastic.

He said: “I would like to thank the Evening Post for the article it ran on our behalf regarding the lack of applications for our vacancies.

“The response we have received has been tremendous – which only proves that there are people looking for jobs that want to work in our kind of environment.”
