Editors named at sister papers

New editors have been appointed at two Scottish newspapers.

Ian Stewart has been officially named as the new editor of the Edinburgh Evening News after ten months as acting editor.

Prior to that he had been deputy editor of the Evening News.

Ian succeeds John McLellan, who has been appointed editor of the Evening News’s sister title, Scotland on Sunday.

His appointment follows the decision by former editor, Margot Wilson, not to return to her post following the birth of her son.

John had been acting editor of Scotland on Sunday since January when Margot went on maternity leave.

Before joining the Evening News, John also worked at The Journal in Newcastle as assistant editor, and at the Evening Mail in Barrow as sports editor.

Margot will return to Scotsman Publications next year as a consultant with the company’s magazine division.
