Editors change places

Two South Yorkshire editors have swapped jobs.

Martin Edmunds has been appointed editor of the Doncaster Advertiser, replacing Linda Waslidge, who has taken over from him at the Mexborough-based South Yorkshire Times.

Both titles are owned by Johnston Press’s South Yorkshire Newspapers.

Mr Edmunds (46) began his career with the Mansfield Chad and worked for the Worksop Guardian before spending three years in engineering. He returned to journalism as deputy news editor of the Rotherham Advertiser, then moved to the Doncaster Free Press as deputy editor, becoming editor in 1989. He edited the Courier series before moving to Mexborough in 1996.

Mrs Waslidge has worked on various publications in South Yorkshire and joined the company which became South Yorkshire Newspapers as a sub-editor in 1987. She has also edited the Entertainer and Past Times in Doncaster
