Tributes to the Queen Mother that appeared prematurely on the Yorkshire Evening Post’s website caused red faces for the Internet team.

Around ten stories surrounding her death were posted in the archives, despite the fact the centenarian was recovering from her illness in hospital.

The articles are understood to have carried tributes and speculation as to how other members of the royal family would react to her death.

The articles were moved as an investigation got underway to find out how the error occurred.

A company spokesman said: “The articles contained background material about the Queen Mother but did not amount to an obituary.

“It was human error that resulted in them being posted to the archives.”
