Double promotion as Star makes changes

Two new appointments have been made at the Evening Star in Ipswich as part of a reorganisation at the paper.

Neil Gallagher has been appointed head of production, and will be responsible for setting up a new joint news and sport production department.

Previously assistant chief sub-editor, the 29-year-old has worked for the Archant-owned newspaper for two years, before which he worked for the East Anglian Daily Times, Mid Anglia Newspapers and the Royston Crow.

Working alongside Neil in the new department will be Ed Hogg, who has been promoted from sports design editor to chief sub-editor.

Ed joined the Evening Star in 2001 from the Express & Echo in Exeter where he was deputy sports editor, and prior to that he worked for the Mid Devon Gazette Series.

At the Evening Star’s sister title, the East Anglian Daily Times, veteran journalist Cathy Brown is to become editor of the Norfolk edition of Let’s Talk magazine.

Currently leader writer and senior feature writer at the East Anglian Daily Times, she has worked at the paper for the past 24 years.

She will take over from Gwyn Jones, who is moving to Jersey later this year.
