The Sheffield Star is asking its readers to donate £5,000 to make a big difference to a young girl’s life.
Jamie-Leigh Griffiths had both feet removed when she was eight-months old after they became infected with by septicaemia following a bout of meningitis.
As a result, Jamie-Leigh has to wear full length artificial legs which can make her an easy target for cruel playground jibes.
Now her mum wants to raise £5,000 to buy the girl a pair of special artificial feet to save her wearing the false legs.
And the Star is calling on readers to do everything they can to help raise the cash.
Jamie-Leigh’s mother, Kim, said: “It’s really wonderful that people care enough to do something to help Jamie.”
Her school will set the ball rolling with a a series of fund raising events.
And the Star is hoping that readers will follow suit and organise their own events.
