Pushing Ahead with the County Press

The Angus County Press Group is linking up with a regional marketing drive for 2003 in a joint bid to boost awareness of the region and its strengths and opportunities.

The company publishes the Forfar Dispatch and Kirriemuir Herald, which will both highlight activities and local talent as part of the campaign.

Editor Alan Ducat said: “We will continue to reflect the life and spirit of a close-knit community, and, by lending our weight to the Angus Ahead campaign, can strengthen the bid to showcase Angus throughout the UK and overseas.”

The campaign will use the long-established newspapers, and their reputation in the county, to promote the area locally, nationally and internationally.

County Press managing director Iain Wallace said: “We need to be far more aggressive, selfish even, in promoting the ‘Angus’ brand.

“We have a wonderful product to sell, but it is necessary to raise our game and aim for higher targets.

“Angus County Press will do everything in its power to support and aid this much-needed initiative.”

Angus Ahead was launched in 1998 to:

  • encourage civic pride;
  • increase inward investment;
  • maximise tourism;
  • promote the area’s culture and natural beauty.

    Since then it has commissioned promotional activities, set out long-term strategies and got to work on immediate objectives.
