Have a Heart boosted by AM's support

Wales’s Tory leader Nick Bourne has vowed to do all he can to support the Carmarthen Journal’s £50,000 Have A Heart campaign.

The Assembly Member, who is an active member of the British Heart Foundation, has pledged his full support for the newspaper’s bid to place lifesaving defibrillators into police cars.

And he is now appealing for readers to suggest ways he can raise money over the coming months.

Mr Bourne, AM for Mid and West Wales said he admired the efforts of the Journal and Dyfed Powys Police.

“It will mean that if someone collapses in the community, there is a good chance that a patrol car will already be nearby.”

Mr Bourne added: “Equipping as many police cars in Dyfed Powys with heart defibrillators will undoubtedly save many lives and there is even an argument that this should become routine.

“I want to do my part to help the Journal raise as much money as possible. With this in mind, I would be happy for any readers to send me suggestions of how they would like to see me raise cash.

“I congratulate the Carmarthen Journal on this excellent campaign and wish them all the very best.”

The Journal is appealing for businesses, councils, banks, fundraising organisations and local groups and societies to help it raise £50,000.
