Generous Herald readers raise money for new hospice

Big-hearted Lennox Herald readers have raised more than £2,000 for the paper’s CHAS Balloch Hospice Appeal in just over three weeks.

Donations have been made by individuals, families, groups and clubs, who are all delighted the Children’s Association Hospice Scotland has decided to locate Scotland’s second hospice for terminally ill children in their area.

Among those who have already donated money, is George Mullen, from Balloch, who raised £400 at a dinner dance and bed and breakfast, which he organised at the Rob Roy Hotel in Aberfoyle.

The Vale of Leven and District Angling Club donated £235, and kitchen staff from Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School in Dumbarton collected £63.

CHAS must raise £10m if it is to build the hospice in Balloch.

A spokesperson for the charity said: “The response has been splendid and please pass on our thanks to all Lennox Herald readers for their very generous support.”
