Extra news for Lincs rail passengers

A Trainwatch column has been launched by the Lincolnshire Echo in response to a readers’ demand for more information.

The new feature has proved particularly helpful in the current rail crisis.

The column gives readers vital information about changes to rail services in Lincoln and Sleaford and is being run by reporter Richard Tear.

He explained: “It was our editor, Mike Sassi’s idea.

“We check on the situation at 8am and put it straight in the paper. It allows people to get a better idea of whether their train is running or not.”

In the column, Richard promises to pass on any complaints about the rail service to the relevant department.

But few people have called to let off steam.

Richard said: “People have been mostly understanding and helpful. The biggest thing we’ve had to deal with was a train that left schoolchildren standing on the platform because it had no more room.”
