Birthday preparations under way

The Skegness Standard will soon be celebrating its 80th birthday.

And as part of the celebrations the paper is planning to adopt a local charity project.

The paper has joined forces with Jackson Building Centres – a local company wanting to assist local charities as part of their Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Standard editor John Cowpe, said: “The Standard promises to give a charity the maximum publicity and support we can towards achieving a particular goal.”

The Standard will also be publishing a special supplement to mark its 80th anniversary.

John told Holdthefrontpage: “We will be publishing the supplement in late September.

“It will have ‘Down memory lane’ features in it and old photos and history of the resort since 1922.

“We hope to interview one or two people who have been reading the paper for the past 80 years as well.

We’ll also be showing how the paper is now produced from the reporting stage to the final dispatch of the paper.”
