Biker chick found

Leicester Mercury editor Nick Carter has been invited to the wedding of a motorbike-mad couple – brought together by his newspaper.

Roy Green met bride-to-be Donna Quartermaine after she responded to his “Biker Chick Wanted” advertisement on the Mercury’s Meeting Place page.

The cheeky ad appealed to Donna and they fell in love after their first date.

Now Donna, a traffic warden who owns a scooter, and Roy, an engineer who rides a customised Kawasaki, plan to marry in May and have invited Mr Carter along.

Roy explained: “We thought it would be a nice gesture as it was the newspaper which brought us together.

“I didn’t think anyone whould reply to the ad, as it was a bit sexist, but Donna saw the funny side of it.”

The couple plan to ride from the church to the reception on a low-slung three-wheeled motorbike.

Mr Carter said: “We are all very pleased to hear the good news and delighted that the Mercury was instrumental in bringing Donna and Roy together. We wish them many years of happy marriage.”
