Big man from the Record is at it again…

Glasgow Daily Record reporter Bob Shields got in touch with his feminine side when he spent the day dressed as a woman.

There was a good reason though – he was volunteering to star in a commercial for Tennent’s Lager as part of their “lady-boy” ad campaign.

Bob had doubts whether he was the man for the job.

Debenhams had agreed to supply the outfits but he could tell by the look on the assistant’s face that her employers didn’t stock mini-kilts or hot pants with a 44in waist.

He didn’t take well to women’s clothes to begin with – and was glad to have some help at hand.

In the resulting article, he said: “I have to confess that all my previous experience with bras is in taking them off someone else – not putting them on.

“I decided to ignore the strap bits on my flesh-coloured contraption and pull it over my head and shoulders already fastened. It was only when I tried to stuff my boobs with tissue that I realised it was upside-down.”

The advert will show Bob as a barmaid serving Tennent’s to puzzled punters. Bob took his new self to Glasgow’s Horseshoe Bar to put the second part of the plan into action.

He said: “As I stepped behind the counter to start serving, I noticed most men in the place had two reactions. They either looked away in disgust – or stared at me in disbelief.

“But after a while, word got around that the dude in drag was the big man from the Record looking like a diddy – again.”

The day finally came to an end just as Bob was becoming used to being a Roberta.

He told bar manager Dave: “I’ve got to get this dress off soon. I’m starting to enjoy myself…”
