Article put pressure on housing authority

A residents’ association has thanked the Hounslow Guardian for its part in ending homeowners’ torment at the hands of unruly gangs.

People living at two sets of flats on Stanley Road, Hounslow, can again enjoy a peaceful night after workmen finished installing a £1,500 intercom system.

The Guardian had previously revealed that residents were threatening to set up their own security system if nothing was done by the housing authority.

The story said their homes were under threat from drunken youths, who were causing problems in the area.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Housing said the estate improvement committee had agreed to prioritise installation of the new security system.
