The Argus in Brighton is celebrating 125 years in print.
The daily newspaper first hit the streets in 1880, and to mark its achievement the newspaper has organised a series of events and features, including a commemorative supplement and a birthday reception.
The newspaper has also launched a poster competition, asking local artists to produce a poster to sum up the city, and it is asking readers to vote for the top ten people who have changed Sussex, from a list of 125 drawn up by the Argus.
In May local dignitaries will attend a reception at the city’s Theatre Royal, to toast the longevity of the paper and its important role within the community, and the Argus is also holding a 125 Race Day on July 3.
