Appeal given big boost

The Yeovil Express Fund A Scanner Today Appeal has been given a big boost from the Ilchester Cheese Company which has donated £2,000.

The appeal total now stands at £6,176 — more than a quarter of the way towards the £20,000 needed for Yeovil District Hospital to buy a new state-of-the-art scanner to help in the diagnosis of the bone disease osteoporosis.

Editor-in-Chief of the Yeovil Express, Ken Bird, said: “The donation from the Ilchester Cheese Company is absolutely wonderful.

“We cannot thank them enough for their kind and generous support of the FAST Appeal.

“But I would also like to thank everybody who has so far given to the appeal — however large or small, their donations have been warmly welcomed as every penny counts towards our golden target of £20,000.

“We’ve been really astonished at the generosity of people and we have quickly realised there are many people out there who suffer with osteoporosis and need a scan.

“Hopefully it won’t be too long before we have raised sufficient funds for the hospital to buy the new and much-needed scanner.”
