100mph speeding bikers video is newspapers' first broadcast

Four titles owned by North Wales Newspapers have carried video footage on their websites for the first time, showing readers the 100mph speeding of two motorcyclists along the A55.

The video was used on the sites of North Wales Pioneer, North Wales Chronicle, Rhyl Journal and Denbighshire Free Press.

It was taken from the weekly blog written by North Wales Police Chief Richard Brunstrom showing the riders on the main route along the North Wales coast.

They were filmed travelling erratically at 100mph from a helicopter, before being arrested and later banned for 12 and 15 months.

The chief constable described the antics as ‘crazy’ and reminiscent of an episode of Wacky Races.

The release of the footage came at just the right time for NWN.

Publishing director Graham Breeze said: “We are developing our sites and were actively looking for the right material to launch video streaming.

“The antics of speeding motorcyclists through our publishing area is of concern to all our readers, particularly with the number of fatalities on our roads this summer.” Do you have a story about the regional press? Ring 0116 227 3122/3121, or e-mail
