More than 70 dedicated readers of the South Bucks Star scaled the Austrian Alps – but not without first packing a copy of the free weekly in their rucksacks.

The stunt, by employees of a High Wycombe-based company, takes the Don’t Forget Your Star series to new heights.

The Newsquest paper launched its game six years ago, inviting readers to submit pictures of themselves reading the Star in the most outlandish places.

So far one adventurer has taken time out to scan the Star as she scuba dived under the water in Florida, another posed by the Great Wall of China while Australia’s natural wonders are also proving a hot-spot for Star lovers.

Editor Steve Cohen said: “We have at least one picture sent to us every single week from a reader on holiday somewhere in the world.

“It’s just a bit of fun but our readers seem to take it seriously and we like to think we are taking a little bit of Buckinghamshire culture to far flung corners of the globe.”
