Search is on for student journalism talent

Journalism students are being invited to enter this year’s National Student Journalism Awards.

Now in their 56th year, the awards are organised by the National Union of Students, which has this year teamed up with the Daily Mirror.

Students are invited to submit their work for a total of 15 categories – including the newly-introduced Best Further Education Publication.

Awards will also be handed out for the best college or university newspapers, magazines, and websites, as well as the best student writers, photographers and designers.

The winners will receive cash prizes and work experience at the Daily Mirror.

Judges will include Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan; Ian Birch, editorial director of Emap; Time Out editor Laurie Lee Davies, and NUS president Mandy Telford.

The closing date for entries is July 31, and winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at the NUS student media conference which will be held in London in November.

Entry forms can be downloaded at www.nusonline.co.uk
