Scottish titles win prizes

Three newspapers which were acquired by Newsquest earlier this year enjoyed a successful evening at the Scottish Newspaper of the Year Awards.

The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times in Glasgow collected ten awards between them at the event organised by The Drum, Scotland’s media and marketing magazine.

The overall award for Scottish Newspaper of the Year was won by the Sunday Herald, which also collected the titles for Sunday newspaper of the Year; best foreign coverage and best supplement.

The Herald also won four titles, for Daily Newspaper of the Year; best design and layout; Law Society of Scotland award for legal coverage and the See Me award for coverage which helps change the stigma of mental health.

The Evening Times was named Evening Newspaper of the Year and won the prize for best arts and entertainment.

Other winners were the Dumfries and Galloway Standard, crowned Local Newspaper of the Year; the Daily Record, which won best news coverage; Sunday Times Scotland, which won best features and best business pages; the News of the World, which won best sport; and the Scottish Sun, which won best opinion and editorial.
