Record entries for Merseyside media awards

A record number of entries have been made for this year’s Merseyside Media Network Awards.

Judging is now underway for the awards, which take place on Friday, June 10 at the Holiday Inn Lime Street Liverpool.

This year’s judges are:

  • Tom Petrie, former Fleet Street columnist and senior executive;
  • Mike Cuerden, former news editor of the Daily Mail, Manchester;
  • Alan Qualtrough, editor of the Evening Herald, Plymouth;
  • Mike Green, principal lecturer in the University of Central Lancashire’s department of journalism.

    Merseyside Media Network’s founder-secretary Ken Bennett said: “The judges say they are really impressed with the quality and tremendously high standard of entries. Tickets for the event are selling like hot cakes.

    “There will be a real battle royal in some categories and the judges will have to make some tough decisions.”

    More than 200 people are expected at the event which will raise funds for charity.
