An award ceremony at York Racecourse awaits the nominees for the Northern region of the BT Media Awards.

More than 400 entries were received from the Northern region, and the shortlist has now been announced.

Among the nominees are staff from the Yorkshire Post, Bradford Telegraph and Argus, Manchester Evening News and Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

A host of other daily and weekly papers will also be competing for the top prizes, together with local TV and radio stations.

The winners of each of the 14 categories will be announced on Friday, May 3.
