EDF Energy South West Media Awards are still open for entry

The deadline is fast approaching for entries to this year’s EDF Energy South West Media Awards.

The awards, now in their third year, honour the best in journalism across the South West. There are 19 broadcast and print categories and the deadline for entries is the end of Friday, April 20.

The awards cover daily and weekly newspapers and broadcasters in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

HTFP publisher Patrick Astill said: “We’ve received a good selection of entries so far, but there is still time to beat the deadline.

“The awards represent the very best of journalism across the South West but entries must be with us by the end of Friday. If you think you should be a contender, now is the time to do something about it.”

Entries should be posted with a form endorsed by your editor.

And – courtesy of EDF Energy – all the nominees and their guests can enjoy a meal and drinks at the awards ceremony at the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum in Bristol on Tuesday, June 12.

The afternoon event, held in association with holdthefrontpage.co.uk, will be the culmination of regional journalists’ efforts during the past year.

The judging line-up includes: Society of Editors president Paul Horrocks, who is editor of the Manchester Evening News; Tony Lennox, Midland Weekly Newspapers editorial director; Paul Napier, Yorkshire Evening Post editor; Nigel Bowles, co-director at John Connor Press Associates; Karen Ainley, former BBC local radio and regional TV reporter and presenter; and former regional press man Dan Pritchard, now EDF Energy’s South West external communications executive.
