Regional press photographers covering this year’s FA Cup are being invited to enter a new competition which has been launched by the Nationwide Building Society.

Searching for the best images that capture the passion and essence of the annual footballing event, the contest is open to all professional photographers.

Two awards are up for grabs – Nationwide FA Cup Photograph of the Year, for the best single picture, and Nationwide FA Cup Photographer of the Year, for the snapper who submits the best portfolio of three images.

The deadline for entries is Friday, April 9, giving photographers the chance to include images from any round of the FA Cup up to, and including, the semi-final on April 4.

The winners will be announced on May 21, the day before the FA Cup Final, during a ceremony in Cardiff where they will be presented with specially commissioned Staffordshire Crystal trophies.

Every entrant will also be invited to the event, where every photograph that is submitted to the competition will be on display.
