Regional journalists are being invited to enter a writing competition offering a top prize £5,000.

Open to business and financial writers, the contest will reward journalists who have contributed to the awareness and understanding of the Alternative Investment Market.

Organised by The London Stock Exchange and Baker Tilly, the AIM Journalist of the Year award is open to those working in the UK print, broadcast and online journalism industry.

The award is split into four categories, for national press, regional press, business magazines and specialist AIM publications.

Each category carries a cash prize of £1,000, with one overall winner, the AIM Journalist of the Year, also receiving a further £4,000.

Anyone wisihng to enter should submit up to five pieces of work on AIM-related issues, including new companies admitted to AIM, features, reports on AIM companies and general coverage on the market.

The closing date for entries is May 7, and winners will be announced in June.
