Chance for sports journalists to net £1,000

Sports journalists are being invited to put themselves forward for a prestigious award which could net them £1,000.

The Jim Rodger Memorial Award is awarded annually to a sports journalist under the age of 35 in honour of the late veteran journalist.

Entrants must submit two pieces of work relating to sport which appeared in a Scottish daily, Sunday or evening paper in 2003.

The deadline for entries is February 28, and the winner will be announced at the Spring Newspaper Press Fund Lunch in Glasgow later in the year.

As well as a cash prize of £1,000, the winner will also receive the Jim Rodger Memorial Award Trophy.
