Cash prize on offer for sex and relationship writers

Press articles on sexual health, relationships or pregnancy are being sought for this year’s Rosemary Goodchild Award, which offers £500 to the winner.

Created in memory of the Family Planning Association’s former press officer, who died in March 1988, the award is open to all national and regional press, consumer magazines and professional journals.

It is given in recognition of the important role journalists play in informing the public and promoting good sexual health.

The entry deadline falls on August 31, and any journalist wishing to write an article for publication can find further information about 75 years of family planning at www.fpa.org.uk.

The winning article must be:

  • Focused on a sexual health issue. This could include sex and relationships education, sexual health services, sexually transmitted infections, sexuality and gender, sex and the law, pregnancy, abortion or contraception;
  • Factually correct;
  • Medically sound.

    Only one entry per journalist is allowed, and entries must have been published between January 1, 2004, and August 31, 2005.

    For an entry form and guidelines, send a stamped, addressed envelope to Rosemary Goodchild Award, fpa Press Office, 2-12 Pentonville Road, London N1 9FP, or call the press office on 020 7923 5201 for information.
