Campaigns and high sales secure accolades

The Bristol Evening Post has been named daily Campaigning Newspaper of the Year for its Clubsafe campaign at the Newspaper Society’s Sales and Promotions Awards.

The Sentinel and Brighton Argus were both Highly Commended for their its Proud of the Potteries and Breast Cancer campaigns.

The winner of the weekly award was the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald for its its Shop a Pusher campaign to crack down on drugs.

The North Devon Journal was Highly Commended for its Foot and Mouth coverage.

At the same awards ceremony, The Kent Messenger was a three-times winner of sales increase awards – taking the Trinity Mirror Newspaper Sales Special Achievement Award, the Johnston Press Award for Weekly Newspapers and the award for the Best Selling Weekly Newspaper.

The Paisley Daily Express was recognized for its consistent growth, taking the Northcliffe Special Merit Award for daily newspapers, and the Carlisle News & Star won the Bristol Evening Post & Press Awards for best overall evening newspaper base sale increase.

The winning Sunday newspaper was the Sunday Herald.

The Community Newspaper of the Year was The Sentinel, for its Ticket to Ride and Your Right to Choose promotion, with the weekly winner in the same category being the Kent Messenger for its River Walk.

  • The Shropshire Star has won the coveted Malcolm Graham Trophy for outstanding sales growth.It was presented at the Bristol sales conference for daily sales between January and June last year.
