Former News Guardian journalist Nick Martin was the joint winner of the Best TV Journalism award at the Royal Television Society North East and the Border Awards 2004.
Whitley Bay man Nick is a journalist on nightly news programme Lookaround at ITV Border in Carlisle. The judges said he was a young reporter with a big future, showing great ingenuity and high quality pacing, use of pictures and story telling.

Judging has started for the Newspaper Society’s Circulation, Editorial and Promotions Awards.
The editorial categories were judged by a panel chaired by media commentator and former Newcastle Evening Chronicle editor Alison Hastings, with the commercial categories to be judged shortly. The awards will be presented at a dinner on Monday, April 4, following the Circulation, Editorial and Promotions Conference.

Coverage of aerospace or air transport industries will be recognised at the Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards 2005, at a gala dinner in Paris this summer.
