PMA Training is the leading provider of postgraduate fast-track training in magazine journalism. It also runs a one-day introductory course for sixth formers and university students wanting to learn more about whether a career in journalism or PR is right for them.
PMA is a highly-experienced media and communications training company, offering more than 150 public skills training workshops and bespoke training to clients in the UK and overseas.
When someone has a PMA Diploma on their CV, editors and publishers recognise it as a sign of the quality of the practical training they've received and the strength of their motivation to become a journalist.
THE PMA NINE-WEEK DIPLOMA IN MAGAZINE JOURNALISM
Accredited by the Periodicals Training Council (PTC), and including NCTJ exam options, the PMA Diploma in Magazine Journalism is the leading fast-track course for those wanting to get a job in journalism. Delegates learn practical skills from top journalists who continue to work in their specialist area, including news and feature writing, writing for the web, sub-editing, proof-reading, design and layout, media law and shorthand.
Past delegates have gone on to be editors and deputy editors on top publications such as Arena, FHM, New Woman and Eve. Many more have won national writing awards.
If you want to work in magazines, the PMA Postgraduate Diploma is the fastest way in. Of course we can't guarantee jobs, but it's not unusual for all our delegates to be working within 12 weeks of the course ending. Some people receive job offers even before the course has ended. The course has been running for 20 years so many people we've trained are now in senior positions — and they know who to ask when they're looking for new journalists. That kind of networking is invaluable.
The full-time Postgraduate Course in Magazine Journalism runs just twice a year starting each January and July. Full details are available on: www.becomeajournalist.co.uk. You can also read about the experiences of some of those who were on previous courses by reading the student blog.
We're happy for you to visit our training facilities. We can also arrange for you to talk to our tutors and to past students.
