Support floods in for pool appeal as readers raise £127,000 in nine months

Hereford Times readers have poured support into a special school's appeal for a new pool, raising £127,000 in just nine months.

The hydrotherapy pool for Barrs Court School in Hereford is, literally, a life-saver for the pupils, helping exercise limbs and muscles that could otherwise compress vital organs.

All over the county, individuals, groups and businesses responded to the challenge, including the Hereford Times' own staff who donated cash in lieu of their children's parties.

Editor Liz Griffin said: "Reporter Philippa May has stayed close to the campaign, providing weekly coverage of the issues, the school and the fundraisers - she's done a great job.

"Raising more than £14,000 a month, with a host of other good causes seeking cash at the same time, is a tribute to the generosity of our readers."
