The Nottingham Evening Post has successfully challenged a court order preventing the identification of a man charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The paper applied to have the reporting restrictions lifted on the case of 37-year-old Colin Gunn who was arrested in connection with the murders of John and Joan Stirland.
During the preliminary hearing at Leicester Crown Court, Judge Michael Stokes QC said there was "no justification" for the defendant to maintain his anonymity.
The Stirlands were shot in their Lincolnshire home on August 8, 2004 after fleeing Nottingham following an attack on their Carlton home.
They were shot a month after Mrs Stirland's son, Michael O'Brien, was jailed for life for the murder of shop-fitter Marvyn Bradshaw.
Two other men, aged 39 and 19, have been charged with the same offence as Gunn.
