Holdthefrontpage readers are being invited to a special journalists' free screening of the film Shattered Glass.
In it, Hayden Christensen stars as Stephen Glass, a staff writer for the respected current events and policy magazine The New Republic and a freelance feature writer for publications such as Rolling Stone, Harper's and George.
By the mid-90s, Glass's articles had turned him into one of the most sought-after young journalists in Washington, but a bizarre chain of events - chronicled in Buzz Bissinger's September 1998 Vanity Fair article on which Shattered Glass is based - suddenly stopped his career in its tracks.
Hayden Christensen in Shattered Glass The publicists say: "It is also a look inside the profession of journalism - one that protects our freedoms by revealing the truth - and what happens when our trust in that profession is called into question.
"One of the best-reviewed pictures of recent months, Shattered Glass is a stirring picture featuring a career best performance from Hayden Christensen."
And because the film is particularly relevant to the journalist community, Icon Film Distribution is inviting Holdthefrontpage readers to the cinema.
The screening is in London on Wednesday May 5 at The Odeon Covent Garden, 135 Shaftsbury Avenue, London, 6.00 for 6.30pm.
Please RSVP for a place by sending an e-mail to andy.freedman@substance001.com: tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
