Roy is promoted to editor

Roy Wright is to take over the editor's chair at the Huddersfield Daily Examiner later this month.

He succeeds John Williams, who plans a return to his native North Wales in a role for the paper's parent company Trinity Mirror. He has been at the Examiner since 1994.

Roy was senior assistant editor at the Liverpool Echo and is currently working in Huddersfield to prepare for the editorship.

One of his first jobs will be to steer through a planned conversion of the Examiner to a tabloid format, which follows its change-over to the Tera page make-up system last year.

The Huddersfield Daily Examiner circulates 35,277 copies throughout Huddersfield and surrounding districts.
