Two young people will get their chance in the media industry thanks to a new bursary scheme.

The Commission for Racial Equality will pay one year's living costs for two young people who get a job training in radio, newspaper, magazine, television or another media field.

The scheme is open to men and women from all racial backgrounds.

CRE chairman Gurbux Singh said: "The media is an exciting and influential industry to be in and does much to shape our ideas and thoughts. But for young people - particularly from ethnic minority backgrounds - it remains a difficult career to break into.

"This is a real chance for two young people to get a helping hand into a media career, and for us to actively support them. We're looking for media partners to provide the training, experience and mentoring while we provide financial backing for a year."

The bursary offers £15,000 for each student to cover their living costs during the year.
